Garderos GmbH

Wellington Partners has provided a total of EUR 1.5m to fund the spin-off of Munich-based Garderos GmbH from the Siemens organisation. Siemens will continue to hold an equity investment in the new company.

Garderos GbmH specialises in the development and marketing of a technology that enables Wireless LAN networks, which provide wireless access to the internet, to be operated at highly frequented locations or ‘hotspots’. Garderos’ main item of software, the i250 Access Gateway software, enables operators and owners of hotspots, such as airports, hotels and shopping centres, to operate wireless broadband local area networks. Users will consist first and foremost of business travellers who value the availability of the internet and thus the ability to contact their corporate servers. Garderos is currently conducting trials with the Marriott hotel chain in Munich. Garderos presently employs 12 members of staff.

People

Frank Böhnke, partner, coordinated the invest for Wellington Partners. Garderos is headed by Hans Christensen, founder of the company. Steffen Schuster from Siemens Venture Capital has taken a seat on the board of Garderos.
