Venture capital documentary 'Nicht ohne Risiko' on German television
Harun Farocki presents 'Nicht ohne Risiko', a documentary about venture capital that demonstrates the challenges and difficulties that a small business has to overcome to convince the investment board of a venture capital fund to invest in its business. The film was produced in 2004 in Germany by Harun Farocki, who wants the documentary to highlight 'the essential paradox of venture capital: banks only lend money against collateral, and entrepreneurs who lack backers must pay hefty fees to venture capital firms'. Farocki documents a single negotiation running over two days, that concludes unexpectedly. The documentary is in German, but is also available with English subtitles.
