VCM - Dr Andreas Wilde, Marco Naumann, Daniel Schmidt, Joerg Sperling
Marco Naumann has joined VCM as a senior manager for business development and will be responsible for broadening the firm's private investor basis. Previously he was executive director with Goldman Sachs' investment management division for more than five years, focusing on high-net-worth individuals. Naumann brings substantial private banking knowledge to the firm and will primarily work with VCM's mezzanine fund-of-funds team.
Daniel Schmidt has been appointed investment manager at VCM focusing on the selection and management of US venture funds. Since 2001 he has led the Center of Private Equity Research (CEPRES) and has worked as a consultant in the area of entrepreneurship. While continuing to manage CEPRES and finishing his PhD thesis, he joined VCM to strengthen the investment team and adding quantitative as well as scientific expertise to the firm.
Joerg Sperling has joined VCM as vice president business development and will work on expanding VCM's European institutional investor base. Also, he will support the investment management team in due diligence matters with regard to venture capital funds in the US and Europe. Sperling has seven years of experience as an active venture capitalist in Silicon Valley. He co-invested with several Silicon Valley investors and served on more than ten company boards. Most recently he was a managing director with Ridgewood Capital, a $300m US-based venture capital fund. Prior to that Sperling headed Infineon's North American venture activities, and worked in senior sales and marketing positions at Infineon Technologies both in the US and Germany.
