PolymerLatex
Soros Private Equity has signed an agreement to acquire Marl-based latex producer PolymerLatex GmbH & Co KG from Bayer AG and Degussa AG. Commerzbank Securities acts as merger and acquisition advisor and is the sole mandated lead arranger of the senior debt facilities. The transaction is subject to approval from the relevant antitrust authorities and is expected to complete either by 31 March or 30 April 2003. PolymerLatex, a 50/50 joint venture of Degussa and Bayer, reported net turnover of EUR 344m in 2001. The company was founded in 1996 and employs some 730 staff. PolymerLatex produces latex products in the paper, carpet, moulded foam and speciality applications sectors. The firm has been expanding its market position over the past years via significant investments and further development of customised products in its five European production sites.
