WestLB reorganises its private equity activities
WestLB is pooling its entire private equity and venture capital activities in the equity investments business group, a core business segment of the bank. As a result the bank will be able to offer integrated investment solutions to capital-seeking companies within the framework of corporate finance. The bank’s equity investments business will focus in the future on the following customer segments: new markets, mature markets and banking/near-banking/real estate. The new markets segment, which will be responsible for all venture capital and Mittelstand activities, will be headed by Joachim Voss, hitherto management spokesman of WestKB Westdeutsche Kapitalbeteiligungsgesellschaft, who has been appointed joint head of equity investments. The mature markets segment, which comprises the bank’s major investments (private/public equity) in the energy/environment, capital goods, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, trading, media, transport and tourism sectors, will be the responsibility of Dr Alexander Winkels. Wolfgang Richter will be in charge of the banking/near-banking/real estate segment, which will focus on equity investments in high-growth financial, financial services and real estate companies.
