bmp announces consolidated results for first half year 2001
As a result of the continuing weakness of the market, bmp AG decided against further divestments and closed the 1st half-year of 2001 with total revenues of Euro 3.8m (turnover D2.7m) and a loss before tax of Euro 8.8m. The 28% decline in profit results from restructuring measures in the 1st half-year as well as additional risk provisions in the investment portfolio of almost Euro 4m. These measures include the sale of both consulting subsidiaries bmp Telecommunications GmbH and ISBAC GmbH planned for the 3rd quarter of 2001. This will reduce the number of employees in the company group from 90 by the end of June to below 30 by the end of the year 2001. The ensuing cost reduction should enable bmp to achieve profitability from the 4th quarter of 2001 onwards.
