Invia Sportartikel Vertriebs GmbH

BayBG Bayerische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH has invested EUR 350,000 in Bavaria-based Invia Sportartikel Vertriebs GmbH. The investment is a second round silent partnership, following an initial backing of EUR 150,000 in May 2000. BayBG continues to hold a minority stake in the firm.

Invia Sportartikel Vertriebs GmbH, which was founded 15 years ago, currently employs 18 staff. The company made a turnover of EUR 5.6m and profits of around EUR 500,000 in 2001. Invia started as a wholesale business for outdoor sports articles, but has restructured its activities to include the design and development of new products. The portfolio includes rucksacks and sleeping bags. A newly developed range of small outdoor lighting products, such as battery-powered torches that allow constant usage of up to 340 hours, are hoped to generate new revenue. A solar-powered torch has also been developed and patented, and should be launched in 2003. The production of the firm’s own product range is organized via contractors. The funding will be used to create new sales opportunities for Invia.
