GBK takes stake in fundamenta CAPITAL
GBK Beteiligungen AG has recently acquired an 8.8% interest in Leverkusen-based incubator fundamenta CAPITAL AG, formerly known as Innovation Network AG, for an undisclosed sum. The company was founded in 1999 and focuses on the health care and biotechnology sectors. Fundamenta CAPITAL AG provides know-how and equity for early-stage projects. The deal, which was led on behalf of GBK by Christoph Baumgärtner and Daniel Marker, is intended as a strategic move to boost the firm's exposure to early-stage companies in these two high-growth areas. GBK was formed in Hamburg in 1969 and has traditionally specialised in investment opportunities in the German mittelstand.
