Mandarin Capital partner Solibieda leaves for BASF Venture Capital
Mandarin Capital partner Markus Solibieda has left the Sino-Italian GP to join BASF Venture Capital, the BASF Group's investment arm, as a managing director.
At Mandarin, he worked for three years as head of its German office in Frankfurt, focusing on both deal-sourcing and fundraising activity.
Recently, the Milanese GP hit a €200m final close for its second mid-cap vehicle, Mandarin Capital Partners II, short of the €500m target set in March 2013, unquote" understands. The GP opened an office in Frankfurt in September 2013 to invest in the German market.
Mandarin is understood to be hunting for a new representative for its German branch to replace Solibieda.
Solibieda joined Mandarin's team from German healthcare-focused buyout house Baigo Capital, where he worked as co-founder. He began his career at the venture capital team of Deutsche Beteiligungs AG and subsequently worked for Advent International and 3i in both Frankfurt and London offices.
