Silverfern expands Frankfurt presence, hires Aon Hewitt's Köpke
Multi-family office Silverfern Group has moved to a larger office in Frankfurt and hired Torsten Köpke, previously of Aon Hewitt, as managing director.
The move is part of a strategy to ramp up private equity investment activity in the region, Unquote understands.
Silverfern's current private equity portfolio comprises 12 companies, of which three are headquartered in Europe.
Köpke will be responsible for Silverfern's institutional investor relationships and fundraising activities. Prior to joining, Köpke spent almost eight years at insurance broker Aon Hewitt where he was responsible for investment consulting and business development.
The multi-family office sources primary buyouts directly and buys a minority stake, bringing in an investment partner such as a PE firm to acquire the majority. It says this approach helps to mitigate market risk.
Silverfern has co-invested alongside Goldman Sachs, Fosun International and LBO France in its current European portfolio, taking minority equity stakes in the buyouts of Continental Bakeries, Club Méditerranée and IKKS Group.
The firm invests in private equity, private debt and real estate globally from its four offices in New York, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Sydney, employing 14 senior investment partners.
