Iris appoints Gunsenheimer as managing partner in DACH
Paris-based Iris Capital has appointed Curt Gunsenheimer as managing partner.
Gunsenheimer will continue to be based in Berlin, and will oversee investments in the DACH region and across Europe.
Gunsenheimer joined the VC in 2002 as a partner responsible for late-stage venture and growth capital. He was later promoted to the position of senior partner. His specialities are in enterprise software, software-as-a-service and automotive technology in both North America and Europe.
In his time at Iris, Gunsenheimer has worked on investments including Jedox, Kyriba, Mister-Auto.com and Talend.
Prior to joining the firm, Gunsenheimer was at Goldman Sachs and Robertson Stephens, where he worked on IPO transactions and M&A. Previously, he worked for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on entrepreneurship and technology spin-out programmes.
Iris started investing in Germany in 1993 and, over the past 10 years, has invested in 20 Germany-based businesses. Currently, German companies account for 35% of Iris's active portfolio. The firm is currently investing from its IrisNext fund, which held its first close on €250m in 2017.
