Golding makes hires for new impact investing team
Golding Capital Partners has hired Andreas Nilsson and Nina Freudenberg, co-founders of impact fund management boutique Sonanz, to lead its new impact investing strategy.
Nilsson has joined the firm as head of impact, while Freudenberg has joined as a director. The appointments came into effect as of March 2021.
Nilsson has prior experience with EQT and UBS, while Freudenberg has experience with Boston Consulting Group and at a private equity firm in Bangladesh.

Nilsson and Freudenberg co-founded fund-of-funds manager Sonanz in 2015, where they worked with Germany- and Nordic-based investors including SEB and H&M Foundation, investing in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
The whole Sonanz team has joined Golding, according to a statement from Sonanz. Sonanz made five fund investments but will not launch any further vehicles or make any further investments.
The GP said in a statement that it plans to launch its first impact product for institutional investors in H2 2021, which will be a private equity fund-of-funds with set sustainable investment objectives. The statement added that Golding's decision to launch the fund is part of the ongoing development of its ESG strategy.
The strategy is to focus on two main themes: technology developed in Europe and the US that aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and resource consumption; and businesses producing essential products aimed at consumers in emerging markets.
Munich-headquartered Golding Capital currently manages funds-of-funds strategies in private equity, private debt and infrastructure. The GP held a final close for Golding Buyout 2018 in February 2021 on €375m, as reported.
