Target Global opens Berlin office
Venture capital firm Target Global has opened an office in Berlin.
The new branch opened in late 2015 and is run by Target's general partners Yaron Valler (pictured above) and Shmuel Chafets, who both joined the firm last year. The Berlin office will work on investment opportunities in Europe, Israel and North America. The VC's other offices are located in San Francisco, Tel-Aviv and Moscow.
Valler was managing partner at Hasso Plattner Ventures for more than five years before joining Target Global. Prior to that, he was vice-president of Giza Venture Capital for almost four years.

Chafets was an adviser in Israel's interior ministry in 2005. He then became a consultant at GCS Issue Management for three years, before joining Giza Venture as a director in 2009. He became venture partner at the firm in 2013.
Prior to the opening in Berlin, Target made three investments in Germany during 2015: in December, it joined b-to-v in backing the $2m extension of rental startup Nestpick's series-A, which brought it to $13m; in October, the VC led a round of seed funding for Berlin-based Clark, the operator of an online insurance advice and sales platform; and in H2 2015, Target invested in McMakler's seed round.
