Syntaxis appoints Coull as ESG consultant
Austrian mezzanine provider Syntaxis Capital has hired Rupert Coull as consultant for the firm's environmental, social and governance activities.
Syntaxis, which focuses on providing mezzanine funding across central Europe, hired Coull in a bid to increase its approach to responsible investment.
Prior to joining the Vienna-based Syntaxis, Coull managed the private equity portfolio of a pension fund, with a focus on ESG. He has spent the previous eight years in investment banking, working at firms such as Merrill Lynch and Cazenove.
The appointment of ESG-focused consultants has become increasingly popular with general partners, with Syntaxis the second GP this month to hire an ESG consultant, after German private equity house Triton Partners appointed Graeme Ardus as head of ESG activities on 3 December.
