Sulzer circled by private equity firms
Swiss industrial manufacturer Sulzer has received bids from private equity firms for its subsidiary Metco, according to reports.
Buyout houses EQT, Charthouse, CVC Capital Partners and Clayton Dubilier & Rice are said to have placed bids for Sulzer's surface solution provider Metco, according to Reuters.
The GPs' bids reportedly value Metco at more than CHF 800m.
Metco produces coating solutions, equipment, materials, services and specialised components for a broad range of industrial sectors.
Sulzer acquired Metco in 1994, integrating the firm's activities and thus founding its subsidiary Sulzer Metco. Since the takeover by the Swiss company, Metco has made 17 bolt-on acquisitions.
The firm reported sales of CHF 690.3m in 2012.
Sulzer, EQT, Charthouse, CVC and Clayton Dubilier & Rice were not available for comment.
