Saints Capital buys Star Ventures' portfolio
Secondaries investor Saints Capital has bought 20 separate assets from Germany- and Israel-based venture capital firm Star Ventures.
Saints Capital acquired five sets of LP fund interests, outstanding escrows held over eight companies and seven additional small direct holdings in companies. Overall, the transaction concerned 11 investment vehicles. As part of the transaction, both Saints Capital and Star Ventures entered an agreement that enabled a Star Ventures affiliate to manage some of the assets.
In its latest reported transaction in Europe, the US-based secondaries investor bought stakes in 10 telecommunications equipment, semiconductors and software companies from Franco-American investor Innovacom Gestion for €35m. Prior to this, Saints Capital bought 3i's portfolio of 10 industrial companies based in the UK in 2006, which was claimed to be one of the biggest secondaries direct transactions at the time.
