Benchmark in Contentful’s $13m round
Benchmark Capital has led a $13m series-B round for German content management platform Contentful.
Other backers include Trinity Ventures, Balderton Capital and Point Nine Capital. The round brings the total funding raised by the business to $16.8m.
The fresh capital will be used for the expansion of the business, especially to the US, including the opening of a San Francisco office this year. Contentful also wants to further develop its product and expand its marketing efforts.
Following the round, Benchmark's Eric Vishria has taken a seat on the company's board, joining Balderton's Suranga Chandratillake and Point Nine's Christoph Janz.
Balderton said it reinvested because of the company's positive progression, which it hopes will continue with the US expansion. The VC invested from its fifth fund, which closed on $310m in 2014.
Previous funding
In August 2012, Balderton acquired a minority stake in Contentful in an early-stage round of funding.
