HTGF in €5m Makerist series-A
High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) has backed the €5m series-A for its portfolio company, German craft tutorials startup Makerist.
Publishing house OZ Verlag – also an existing backer – took part in the round alongside new backers, corporate VCs G+J Digital Ventures and Ringier Digital Ventures.
Makerist aims to capitalise on the additional marketing power offered by the three publishing houses, OZ, G+J and in particular Switzerland-based Ringier. The startup also aims to produce its first TV advert and a larger range of tutorials.
Previous funding
In December 2013, Makerist raised an undisclosed seed round from HTGF and TA Ventures. OZ Verlag came on board during a series-A round in 2015.
Company
Founded in 2013 and based in Berlin, Makerist produces paid-for video tutorials for a range of do-it-yourself projects such as knitting, crochet and cake decoration. The business has 38 employees.
