
E.Ventures in €20m Smartfrog round
E.Ventures and Target Global have backed a €20m series-A for German Internet-of-Things business Smartfrog.
The VCs were joined by a number of family offices and Swiss entrepreneur Jean-Pierre Wyss, who founded GPS technology business U-blox.
The company claims to have users in 130 countries and to have doubled its staff to 60 following its launch last year. Smartfrog also entered collaborations with retailers including Amazon, Otto, Mediamarkt and Saturn.
Previous funding
Target Global and E.Ventures provided €6m in funding for Smartfrog in February 2016.
Company
Founded in 2015 and based in Berlin and Dublin, Smartfrog produces cameras that connect to a smartphone, thereby allowing people to monitor their houses at any time via the Smartfrog app. In addition to its paid camera product, Smartfrog offers a free app that can turn smartphones and webcams into surveillance cameras.
