
BIP backs Mercateo
BIP Investment Partners has invested an eight-digit sum in e-commerce and internet distribution company Mercateo.
The company will use the fresh capital for the rollout and expansion of its new networking platform, Mercateo Unite. BIP targets investments of €10-30m.
The company has grown substantially in the last 10 years. In 2006, it reported revenues of €23.6m and employed 90 people. In 2016, its turnover was €228m and the company now employs around 450 people.
Previous funding
In May 2004, Target Partners led a €3m early-stage investment round for Mercateo along with private investors.
In September 2007, Bayerische Beteiligungsgesellschaft invested €1m in the company in the form of a silent investment. Mercateo used this money to employ 10 new software developers.

Founded in 1999 in Taufkirchen, Mercateo is an e-commerce and distribution company, now active in 14 countries. The company has a selection of 16,400 manufacturers and suppliers, and more than a million business customers, according to its website. It currently employs 450 people and reported sales of €228m in 2016.
