Sunstone, Statkraft lead €4m series-A for Zolar
Sunstone Capital and Statkraft Ventures have led a €4m series-A funding round for Berlin-based online solar energy systems retailer Zolar.
Partech Ventures and entrepreneur Tim Schumacher also took part in the financing.
The fresh capital will be used to support the accelerated roll-out of Zolar's product portfolio.
The company aims to take advantage of growth in the residential solar market, driven by pricing dynamics that mean it is cheaper in many countries to produce energy at home than buy it from the grid.
Company
Zolar was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Berlin. It is an online platform that allows users to compare and purchase solar energy systems and arrange installation. It offers products from brands such as LG, Solarwatt, Trina, Mercedes-Benz and Varta. Zolar carries out the installation process.
