Northzone leads $20m series-A for Freighthub
VC firm Northzone Ventures has led a $20m series-A funding round for Berlin-based digital logistics company Freighthub.
Northzone drew capital for the investment from Northzone VIII, a €300m vehicle that held a final close in September 2016 and was 16% deployed as of March 2017, according to unquote" data.
Global Founders Capital (a Rocket Internet investment vehicle), Cherry Ventures, Cavalry Ventures and La Famiglia also took part in the round.
The fresh capital will be used for global expansion, with new branches planned in Asia and the US.
Freighthub has processed more than 2,500 customer orders this year and grown at a rate of 70% per quarter.
Previous funding
Global Founders Capital and Cherry Ventures backed a $3m early-stage funding round for Freighthub in September 2016. The business set a target of shipping 500 containers before the end of 2015 and a five-figure number in 2017.

Founded in 2016 and based in Berlin, Freighthub organises transportation for freight shipments. The business provides booking and tracking services via its digital platform for global container and pallet transport via sea, air and rail. It currently employs 80 people.
