Quantum holds final close on €77.5m hard-cap
Quantum Capital Partners has held a final close for its special situations fund, Quantum Opportunity Fund II, on its €77.5m hard-cap.
Its predecessor, Quantum Opportunity Fund, held a final close on €55m in October 2014. All LPs from the first fund have reinvested in the second.
The new vehicle will employ the same strategy as the last and invest in complex carve-out situations across continental Europe.
The GP simultaneously announced the promotion of Tilman Richter from director to managing director. It has also hired an additional five investment professionals, expanding the team to 15. The new hires include senior adviser for Italy and the UK, Francesco Rigamonti, previously of Deutsche Bank; investment manager Sebastian Stalter, previously of Rothschild & Co; investment manager Stephan Schuster, previously of EQT-backed Anticimex; and analysts Rasmus Dzwonek and Hendrik Eickmann.
Triago's Nicolas de Nazelle was the placement agent responsible for the raise and a team consisting of Uwe Baerenz, Andrea Schoeneberg, and Tobias Lochen from P+P Pöllath + Partners provided legal advice.
Investors
The GP said all investors from Fund I signed up to Fund II and expanded their commitments. The previous vehicle received commitments from US and European institutional investors including a fund-of-funds and a US University Endowment.
Investments
The fund will target equity investments of up to €15m in corporate divisions and subsidiaries with annual revenues between €30-400m. The GP has previously made investments in Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and Spain, and will continue targeting these markets as well as the Nordic region, Benelux and the UK. It will specialise in complex carve-outs, spin-outs and distressed deals with plenty of potential for improvement.
