Frog Capital leads €3m series-D for Sofatutor
Frog Capital has led a €3m series-D funding round for Berlin-based online learning platform Sofatutor.
Existing investors Acton Capital Partners, JCMB Beteiligungs and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft also took part, as well as school book publisher Cornelsen.
The fresh capital will be used for further product development and strengthening Sofatutor's market position in the DACH region.
The company has expanded rapidly since it was founded in 2008. It raised its first funding round in 2010 and at the time employed 10 people. Its headcount is expected to be 100 by the end of 2018. The number of users has increased from 20,000 to 200,000 over the same period.
Previous funding
IBB and JCMB invested less than €1m in Sofatutor in January 2010 to increase its technological resources ahead of the first product launch.
Acton led a €5m round in September 2012 to support the company's European expansion and all three investors returned in August 2014 to back a €3.5m series-C round, which was led by Cornelsen.
