
Paragon-backed Chicco di Caffè buys Bota Group
Paragon Partners portfolio company Chicco di Caffè has fully acquired Bota Group from its management team.
It is the first acquisition since Paragon's initial investment in January 2017. Paragon acquired a minority stake in Chicco di Caffè, drawing equity from Paragon Partners Fund II. The group has reported organic growth of 21% in that time.
The combined group will employ more than 450 people across 150 locations. It is the fifth largest coffee bars group in Germany, according to a company statement.
Selling shareholders Pius Widmer and Bruno Wanske voluntarily gave up their management roles to pursue other opportunities.
Company
Bota operates coffee bars in universities and large companies. It sells locally sourced food and coffee from its Barista Bar 4.0 chain. The company employs 130 people and operates bars at 30 locations.
