Finatem buys Gothaer Fahrzeugtechnik
German buyout firm Finatem Beteiligungsgesellschaft has wholly acquired steel component manufacturer Gothaer Fahrzeugtechnik (GFT).
It is the third investment Finatem has made in 2018, after its acquisitions of HKM Sports Equipment and Mungo Befestigungstechnik in April, and the fifth from its latest buyout fund Finatem IV, which held a final close on €150m in December 2014.
With Finatem's support, the company plans to pursue international growth, specifically in the crane component segment, where it expects global demand to increase by 6% per year.
Finatem generally targets businesses with annual turnover between €20-125m, putting GFT at the lower end of its range with sales of €50m in 2017.
Company
GFT was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Gotha. The company specialises in the development of steel components for the crane and construction industries. It employs 370 people and generated sales of €50m in 2017.
