HTGF, ECapital invest €4.6m in FMC
High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and ECapital have taken part in a €4.6m funding round for semiconductors developer and manufacturer Ferroelectric Memory Company (FMC).
The round came just nine months after HTGF backed a seed round for the business.
The fresh capital will be used to expand the team in Dresden and accelerate product development.
FMC has previously been supported by Exist Forschungstransfer, a startup incubator programme with backing from Germany's federal ministry for economic affairs and energy.
Company
FMC was founded in 2016 and evolved out of the NamLab research institute at the technical university of Dresden. The company takes advantage of a new technology for non-volatile storage called ferroelectric field effect transistors (FeFET). It means the company can produce very small transistors (less than 5nm) for the Internet-of-Things, medical, aerospace and automotive industries. Its team of six is based in Dresden.
