
EMH invests in Brainlab
EMH Partners has invested for a minority stake in Munich-based medical software company Brainlab.
It is the fifth investment from EMH Digital Growth Fund, a €350m vehicle that closed in 2017. The fund deploys €10-100m per company and matches most of its investments with co-investment from its LPs, meaning the total programme has a volume of around €700m.
Brainlab will continue to focus on digitalisation and internationalisation with EMH's support.
Previous funding
Intel Capital led a $7.3m funding round for Brainlab in November 2006. It was Intel Capital's first direct investment in a European company.
Company
Brainlab was founded in 1989 and is headquartered in Munich. It provides medical software to 4,500 hospitals globally, including 36 university hospitals in Germany. The business generated revenues of €275m in 2017 and employs 1,370 people in 18 locations globally.
