Bregal inks first deal from new DACH fund with Trendtours

Founder and managing director Werner Scheidel has sold his holding in the business, but will continue to support the business in an advisory capacity.

It is the first deal to be drawn from Bregal's second fund, Bregal Unternehmerkapital II, which launched earlier this year with a target of €1bn and is being placed by Campbell Lutyens.

Cofra Holding, the family office of the Brenninkmeijer family, is majority owner of Bregal Unternehmerkapital and has made a cornerstone investment in the latest fund.

Bregal has acquired both Trendtours and its sister company Bus und Service, Organisations- und Werbegesellschaft mbH through the holding company Dating Datenerfassung und -verarbeitung GmbH, according to a regulatory filing.

The GP said it plans to expand the comapany's range of offered destinations and thinks the business is well positioned for upcoming trends in the travel sector.

Trendtours is a plane, coach and cruise ship tour operator based in Frankfurt. The company was founded by Werner Scheidel in 2004. The company generated sales of €300m in 2017 and employs 160 staff.
