Target Partners appoints Alpina's Sperling

Target Partners has appointed former Alpina Partners managing partner Jörg Sperling as venture partner.
At Target Partners, Sperling will focus on B2B software and "deep-tech" companies (companies based on substantial scientific advances and high-tech engineering innovation). He will work part-time at the firm while acting as an external adviser to Alpina.
Prior to Alpina, Sperling worked in Silicon Valley as head of North American investments at Infineon Ventures and as managing director at Ridgewood Capital. Later he worked in research and sales for semiconductor manufacturers Ikanos and ZMD. Sperling also acted as venture partner at Target Partners between 2007-2009.
Munich-based Target Partners is a VC specialising in early-stage and expansion investments. It typically invests between €2-3m and up to €5m in initial financing rounds, and €5-10m via co-investments. Target Partners Fund III, the firm's latest fund, closed on €68m in 2014.
