
Regent acquires fashion brand Escada
Beverly Hills-based private equity investor Regent has acquired German luxury fashion house Escada from the Mittal family for an undisclosed amount.
The Mittal family acquired Escada out of insolvency in December 2009. The Frankfurter Allgemeine reported that the company was acquired for €60m and that the Mittal family invested the same amount back into the business over the past 10 years.
Regent invests in companies with revenues of $10-750m, with a preference for majority stakes or complete acquisitions. The GP also invests in companies that are not currently profitable.
Regent's latest investments include the acquisition of French bike equipment manufacturer Mavic in March 2019.

Escada was founded in 1978 by Wolfgang and Margaretha Ley. Known for its celebrity customers, Escada is a women's luxury fashion house operating in 24 counties and based in Munich. The group has two divisions: Escada and Escada Sport.
In Northdata figures from 2017, the company reported turnover of €113.6m and a net loss of €16.5m. The group employs 705 staff, according to LinkedIn.
