Brecis-backed Halex buys Härterei Aribert Conrad
Halex, a portfolio company of Brecis Capital, has wholly acquired Germany-based Härterei Aribert Conrad.
Livingstone Partners initiated contact with Härterei Aribert Conrad for the deal.
Martin Kampen will remain in his position as CEO of the business.
Brecis acquired Halex in May 2018 from H2 Equity Partners for an enterprise value of €80m. It invested via Brecis Buyout Fund V, which held a final close on its hard-cap of €425m in January 2016. Idinvest, Muzinich & Co and CVC Credit Partners provided a €50m senior debt package for the deal.
Halex was founded in 1990 and operates 15 subsidiaries, employing 550 staff and generating sales of €40m. It produces extrusion dies and operates hardening facilities.
Härterei Aribert Conrad is the second add-on acquisition made by Halex in the investment period, following its acquisition of all shares in metallic material heat and service treatment business Forte Wärmebehandlung in November 2018. Forte Wärmebehandlung was founded in 2013 and employs 70 staff.

Härterei Aribert Conrad handles the surfacing and treatment of metal materials via hardening and tempering processes. It was founded by Hermann Conrad in 1953. The company relocated to Rombrock in 1982 and is based in Iserlohn-Sümmern.
