
Mutares-backed Plati bolts on Nexans Metallurgie
Plati, a portfolio company of Mutares, has acquired copper wire producer Nexans Metallurgie in a carve-out from its parent company, fibre-optic cable producer Nexans.
Mutares supported Plati with working capital and capex funding. The GP did not engage external advisers for the deal.
Mutares acquired an 80% stake in Plati in June 2019 from its China-based parent company Deren Group. Plati produces wire harnesses for the automotive, consumer goods, healthcare and telecommunications industries. Based in Madone, Italy, Plati reported sales of €30m and had 700 employees in 2019. It now reports revenues of €300m.

Nexans Metallurgie Deutschland manufactures copper wire, including wire rod, wound and stranded wire. Its customer base comprises tier-two suppliers in the automotive, white goods and industrials sectors. It has manufacturing sites in Bramsche and Neunburg, 250 employees, and reports revenues of €260m.
