
VCs in $160m series-D for Sennder
A consortium of venture capital investors, including Lakestar and Accel, has backed a $160m series-D round for Germany-based freight and logistics software platform Sennder.
The round also saw participation from HV Capital, Project A, Next47, Scania Growth Capital, Earlybird and Perpetual.
According to a statement, Sennder intends to put $100m of the fresh capital towards the development of its technology platform. The remainder of the funding is earmarked or the company's European expansion, including strategic partnerships.
Sennder also intends to expand its technology team, which currently comprises 200 of its 800 employees.
The round brings Sennder's valuation to more than $1bn, according to the same statement.
Previous funding
According to Unquote Data, Sennder raised a seed round in 2015, followed by a series-A backed by Dynamo in 2016.
Scania Growth Capital made a growth investment in Sennder in 2017.
In April 2019, Accel led a $30m series-B for Sennder, with participation from HV Capital, Project A Ventures and Scania.
Lakestar led a $70m series-C funding round for Sennder in September 2019. Accel, Next47, H14, HV Capital, Project A and Scania also backed the round.
Sennder merged with French market peer Everoad (formerly known as Convargo) in June 2020 in a deal that saw Everoad's VC backer Earlybird join Sennder's shareholder base.

Sennder was founded in 2015 by David Nothacker, Julius Köhler and Nicolaus Schefenacker. The company's software platform connects businesses with its fleet of trucks to ship their products. The company also has strategic partnerships with Poste Italiane and Uber Freight Europe. Sennder employs 800 people in its seven locations and is headquartered in Berlin.
