Fidelium to acquire Benteler’s Tønder and Louviers plants

Special situations investor Fidelium Partners is to acquire the Tønder and Louviers aluminium processing plants of Austria-headquartered automotive, energy and engineering products producer Benteler.
Benteler said in a statement that the divestment is part of its plan to focus its core activities on metal processing, a strategy which was initiated in 2018.
Fidelium invests in businesses that require operational improvements, regularly acquiring companies via carve-outs of non-core assets.
Fidelium is currently investing via Fidelium Special Situations Fund, which held a final close in June 2017 on EUR 103m. The GP invests in Europe-based businesses across the industrial, chemical, consumer goods, business services and TMT sectors with sales of EUR 30m-EUR 500m and EBITDA margins of -10% to 10%. The GP can invest up to EUR 20m in equity per deal.
The GP said in a statement that it expects the plants to benefit from cooperation with existing portfolio companies Mühlhoff Umformtechnik and RET, as well as from their network of automotive manufacturers and suppliers.
The deal is expected to be completed in autumn 2021.
