
Gores sells Unify to Atos for €366m
US private equity firm The Gores Group and Siemens have sold Unify, a German developer of communication solutions, to French IT services and consulting company Atos for €366m.
Following the transaction, Unify will be fully integrated into Atos. The company's net debt is €48m, with the pension deficit standing at €176m. The company's enterprise value stood at €590m as of November 2015.
Unify is currently executing a restructuring plan that aims at saving €267m by 2017, with a plan to save another €103m on the way.
During Gores' holding period, Unify recruited a new management team and focused increasingly on the development of software. The company used to also service telephone systems when it was still a part of Siemens.
Company
Unify was founded in 2008 as Siemens Enterprise Communications and is headquartered in Munich. It is a joint venture between Gores, which held 51%, and Siemens, owning 49%. Gores integrated its portfolio companies Enterasys Networks and SER Solution into Unify.
The company provides communications software and services designed to enhance social collaboration and business performance. It has 5,600 employees and is active in more than 60 countries. Unify generates annual revenues of €1.2bn.
