Highland Capital backs Finanzcheck
Highland Capital Partners Europe (HCPE) has invested more than €10m in credit comparison portal Finanzcheck.de.
The capital injection will be used for further product development and marketing, as well as to finance a move to bigger offices in Q1 this year. The company also plans to make new hires in 2015.
Finanzcheck initially contacted HCPE about investing in the company.
Finanzcheck is not the only Hamburg-based fintech company to have received private equity investment. Kreditech rates consumers for loans and has received private equity backing from a range of VCs including Point Nine Capital, Värde Partners and Holland Private Equity. Earlier this month, the company acquired Polish fintech company Kontomierz and announced an impending series-C funding round.
Company
Founded in 2010, Hamburg-based Finanzcheck provides users with a loan comparison service. It claims to have tripled its 2013 turnover in 2014 and mediated more than 50,000 loans. It has around 75 employees.
