DPE creates new maintenance service consortium
Deutsche Private Equity (DPE) has acquired biogas specialist MT-Energie Service with a view to combining the company with engine repair service Bücker + Essing.
DPE acquired MT-Energie Service from insolvency administrator Gideon Böhm. Former parent company MT-Energie filed for insolvency in October last year. The company attempted to refinance with a five-year debt package of €30m, beginning in April 2012. It received a C credit rating in September 2014, down from a B rating in June.
The GP acquired Bücker + Essing in December 2014. DPE stated it plans to build a consortium focused on maintenance services for biogas plants and combined heat and power services around its two purchases.
Company
Zeven-headquartered MT-Energie Service manages 1,000 biogas plants in Germany. The company was founded in 2001 by Christoph Martens.
Bücker + Essing, located in Lingen, repairs and maintains engines and components. It was founded in 1963 as a reconditioning company for car engines.
People
Otto Eichhorn is managing director of the new consortium. Lars Becker is a partner at DPE. Martin Blunt is head of services at MT-Energie.
