IBB backs Surprise Internet
IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft has backed toy delivery company Surprise Internet with a six-digit capital injection.
The fresh capital, provided via IBB's VC Fonds Kreativwirtschaft Berlin, will be used to increase Surprise Internet's product offering, start cooperation projects and finance the company's expansion in the toys market.
Previous backers include Blumberg Capital, German Startups Group and entrepreneur network Team Europe, as well as German business angels Lars Dittrich and Holger Hengstler.
Company
Surprise Internet offers boxes filled with toys for children between three and eight years old, called Wummelkiste. Customers can sign up for a one-month, three-month or 12-month subscription, receiving one themed box a month.
Children are encouraged to build their own toys with the materials found in the boxes, aiming to increase the children's levels of logical thinking, motor skills and language skills. The different toys are separated into the categories of crafts, quizzes, research, discovery and play. Staff at Surprise Internet include teachers, parents and designers.
