Apax Partners acquires Orange Switzerland for €1.6bn
Apax Partners has wholly acquired telecommunications firm Orange Switzerland from France Telecom Orange for approximately CHF 2bn (€1.6bn).
The investor previously gained insight into the Swiss telecommunications market through its investment in Sunrise through TDC. Sunrise was sold to CVC in September 2010 for CHF 3.3bn. The deal is subject to the approval of the Swiss competition authorities.
Debt
A CHF 1bn debt package consisting of loans and bonds was provided by Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan Chase & Co, Morgan Stanley and UBS.

Orange Switzerland is a mobile phone operator, employing 1,171 people. Its customer base includes approximately 1.6 million entries and the business generated a turnover of CHF1.3bn (€1.1bn) in 2010.
