3i-backed Trescal in Isocal bolt-on
3i's French portfolio company Trescal, an industrial calibration company, has acquired Austrian calibration service business Isocal GmbH.
3i and TCR Capital acquired Trescal from Astorg Partners in September 2010, a deal that valued the company at €110m. 3i secured the majority of the shares.
This is the 12th acquisition done by the Trescal group – in 10 different countries – since 2007.
With this expansion in Central Europe, and the subsequent integration of Isocal into Trescal, the network will cover 62 calibration laboratories. The group is currently present in 16 countries.
Isocal's accreditation in low frequency power will notably help improve Trescal's technical range in the CEE region.
Company
Isocal operates across two laboratories located in Vienna and Graz. It specialises in electrical, temperature and pressure calibration with on-site teams servicing clients in the life sciences, pharmaceutical and electronics sectors. The company has a turnover of €2.5m and employs 17 staff.
People
Xavier de Prévoisin and Remi Carnimolla are respectively director and partner at 3i. Guillaume Caroit is general secretary at Trescal. Gerald Kern is the founder of Isocal.
