IBB invests in seed round for food.de
IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft has taken part in a €500,000-1m seed round for German online food retailer food.de.
The VC invested from its Kreativwirtschaft Berlin fund, alongside business angels and investor Olini Verwaltungsgesellschaft. The Berlin- and Leipzig-focused business will use the capital to enter the broader German market.
The investors hope to benefit from a shift in German attitude towards online shopping, a market in which the country lags behind its European counterparts.
Company
Founded in Leipzig in June 2011, food.de's headquarters will move to Berlin following the transaction. The business is an online supermarket and delivery service that pledges to deliver fresh food and toiletries to any address within its focus areas on the day of ordering or at a chosen date. The retailer offers around 10,000 products.
