Howzat backs €2m round for Travelcircus
German travel booking platform Travelcircus has raised €2m from Howzat Partners, Mair DuMont Ventures, Tengelmann Ventures and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft in its first financing round.
The company eyes an expansion to Scandinavia for Q1 2016, with more countries to follow this year. Besides the planned expansion, IBB plans to improve Travelcircus's distribution and marketing.
Tengelmann stated it was attracted to the company due to its business concept, growth and turnover. The VC has invested in 50 companies since it was launched five years ago, backing startups such as Uber, Zalando and Delivery Hero.
Company
Travelcircus is an online booking platform for upmarket weekend getaways. The company claims it can offer competitive prices for stays in four- and five-star hotels by selling rooms that would have remained empty otherwise. Its travel packages often include activities.
