Sobera buys BayTech Venture portfolio
Direct secondaries specialist Sobera Capital has acquired BayTech Venture Capital Fund I from German venture firm BayTech Venture Capital.
Sobera was backed in the transaction by Unigestion.
BayTech Venture Capital is the venture arm of BayernLB Capital Partners, which is the private equity arm of the Bavarian bank BayernLB. Limited partners in the fund were Bayerische Landesbank, European Investment Bank, Bpifrance and Versicherungskammer Bayern.
The fund's portfolio consists of five active investments: developer of energy-harvesting wireless sensor technology EnOcean; biotechnology company Pieris; semiconductor company Scaleo chip; manufacturer of multi-service routers OneAccess; and the fund-of-funds investment in Bio-M, a non-profit organisation to support the biotechnology sector in Bavaria.
The vehicle held its final €102.26m close in December 2000, according to unquote" data. It focused its investments on early-stage firms in the information technology, communications, life sciences and cross-sectional technologies sectors. BayTech Venture Capital Fund I aimed to invest between €3-8m in each transaction.
