Investment AB Kinnevik et al. invest $20m in Foodpanda
Investment AB Kinnevik and Phenomen Ventures have led a funding round in excess of $20m for Foodpanda, a global food delivery service.
The fresh capital will be used to fuel the international growth of Foodpanda as it adds further countries, restaurants and customers into its system.
Foodpanda recently took over Hungarian competitor Ételvitel KFT and released iPhone and Android apps.
The company has, together with its associated brand hellofood, entered 15 new countries in the last few months and is now active in 27 different countries.

Foodpanda is an online food ordering start-up platform that emerged out of Berlin-based accelerator Rocket Internet.
The company helps restaurants to increase sales through online as well as mobile platforms, and provides them with technology and analytics.
In addition, it offers an online marketplace with a wide gastronomic range including salads, pizza, burgers and sushi for consumers.
Foodpanda focuses particularly on emerging markets in South America, Asia, Africa and eastern Europe. It is present in India, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Nigeria, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Ukraine, Romania and Saudi Arabia, among other countries.
