HTGF exits Zim Plant Technology in trade sale
High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) has sold its stake in irrigation sensor technology company Zimmermann Irrigation Monitoring Plant Technology (Zim) to Yaka, a producer of fertilisers.
Norway-based Yaka bought Zim in order to to engage in agricultural water use efficiency and strengthen its position within the fertigation segment, the firm stated. Zim will continue to operate as an independent company based in the German state of Brandenburg.
HTGF originally invested in Zim in 2010, when it backed the German start-up with €500,000.
Company
Zim sells water crop sensor technology, which is mainly used in yields and water use efficiency in order to reduce water consumption.
The company collaborates with a number of researchers and institutes across the world, aiming to improve and further develop water-saving technology. It currently works together with institutes in Germany, Australia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Austria and Brazil.
Zim was launched in Berlin in 2010. The firm employs 12 staff.
