bmp backs Distribusion
bmp, BFB Frühphasenfonds Brandenburg and HR Ventures have injected more than €1m into travel tech start-up Distribusion.
The company plans to use the fresh funding to enhance its technology, increase its sales activities and expand into further European markets. Distribusion is currently developing a global distribution system for the international intercity bus market, which will serve operators in the UK, France, Poland and Spain, in addition to working on an online booking system.
The deal follows General Atlantic's investment in the merger of German intercity bus companies Flixbus and Meinfernbus in January. The 1934 Passenger Transportation Act prohibited long-distance bus travel in Germany order to protect the state-owned Deutsche Bahn but, following its repeal in 2013, a number of firms have sprung up in the segment.
HR Ventures is the investment arm of the Hahn Air Group. BFB's €25m fund, managed by bmp, invests in companies in the state of Brandenburg. bmp provided 5% of the fund, the European Regional Development Fund contributed 75% and the state of Brandenburg supplied the remainder.
Company
Headquartered in Bernau bei Berlin, Distribusion aims to standardise intercity bus information and to link national and international bus companies, travel agencies and mobile apps with one service. Distribusion is partnered with 40 intercity bus companies and provides content to portals including Qixxit, Waymate and Coachfairer. Founded in 2010, the company has 10 employees.
