BWK GmbH Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft has acquired a 49% stake in German telco Bktel- Group from the eight founding shareholders for an undisclosed amount. The investment opportunity was sourced via Düsseldorf-based corporate financier Transfer Partners. BKtel group’s eight founders remain invested, holding the remaining 51% stake.
The financial investor is looking to continue BKtel’s organic growth, developing into new regional markets and expanding the company’s product portfolio.

BKtel was founded in 1997 through a management-led spinout from Alcatel-Group. The company mainly focuses on the development and manufacturing of components and systems for optical networks such as Fiber-to-the-Home and Hybrid Fiber Coax. Headquartered in Hückelhoven Baal the company has a further office in Kornwestheim near Stuttgart and representations in China and Indonesia. While the office in Hückelhoven Baal focuses on OEM products, services and manufacturing, the Kornwestheim site is responsible for the development, integration and marketing of complete systems for cable TV networks. In 2006, it reported revenues of approximately ??25m while employing approximately 100 staff.
