
SHS et al. invest in Vimecon
SHS Gesellschaft für Beteiligungsmanagement has invested in cardiology specialist Vimecon, alongside existing backers.
Existing investors S-VC, the venture capital arm of the Sparkasse savings bank, NRW.Bank, KfW Bank and private investors committed further capital to the company alongside new business angels and Aachen-based holding company DSA Invest.
SHS used its fourth fund to complete the transaction. The fund held its first close at the end of 2014, having received more than €100m in commitments from investors including the European Investment Fund, occupational pension schemes and pension funds, funds-of-funds, entrepreneurs, family offices and the SHS management team.
SHS invests in life sciences and medical technology companies. In September 2014, SHS backed Switzerland-based TRI Dental Implants.
Company
Founded in 2005, Herzogenrath-based Vimecon became operational in 2008. It opened an office in Houston, Texas in 2012 to collaborate with physicians at the Texas Medical Centre.
Vimecon develops and manufactures laser catheters to treat heart disease, with a specific focus on atrial fibrillation.
People
Manfred Ulmer-Weber is a senior investment manager at SHS, while Andre Zimmermann is a partner at the firm. Kai Markus is founder and managing director of Vimecon.
