AdScale GmbH (Germany) - Jan 2008
Holtzbrinck Ventures and European Founders Fund have invested a medium seven figure sum in advertising marketspace AdScale GmbH in a second round of financing.
Seed financing of less than €1m was previously provided by Oliver Jung and Lukasz Gadowski together with Holtzbrinck Ventures in mid-2007. The contact was made through the established contact with Oliver Samwer, who is behind European Founders Fund.
Holtzbrinck Ventures and European Founders Fund contributed again in this financing round due to AdScale’s strong growth, reporting more than 16 million page impressions on more than 600 websites per day and excellent future prospects for the company. Its flexibility, pricing, the availability of traffic and the longtail approach of the company were also cited as strong factors in the short term, with scaleability on other forms of media in the medium or long term. The funding will be used to invest in the development and expansion of the company’s technological infrastructure.
Company
Headquartered in Munich, AdScale GmbH is Germany’s first real time online marketplace for online advertising. It enables customers to sell advertising space to the highest bidder in real-time auctions. This in turn improves targeting and efficiency for advertisers and the auction process supports transparency and fair prices.
People
Martin Weber led the transaction for Holtzbrinck. AdScale was founded by Klaus von Doemming and Stephan Kern.
